The Bajau are one of the last (and the largest) sea gypsies communities in the world, living aboard their wooden perahu (houseboats). Their lifestyle is based on fishing and trading (especially sea cucumber). Nowadays, a large part of the Bajau are semi-nomadic. Their wooden houses are built directly in the water. The Bajau are living in total symbiosis with the sea and children learn how to swim at a very young age.
